Nelson Mandela +94 Schools Initiative

As an advocate of the Nelson Mandela +94 Schools Initiative, I spearheaded the efforts on behalf of Software AG, in collaboration with Talk Radio 702 and LeadSA to adopt a school for two years. I led the efforts to assess of what the school and the pupils needed and then raise the funds as well as coordinate volunteers as required.

First Lego League Competition

At SAP, I mentored teams of taking part in an international education program that combines a hands on interactive robotics competition where the team focused on problem solving, creativity, analytical thinking and team building. The challenge was themed "Global Warming and Climate Change" in line with a real problem the world is facing today. The team had to design, build, program, test and refine a fully autonomous robot capable of completing various missions of the First Lego League Robot Game using Lego Mindstorms Technology, experiencing all steps of a real product development process (solving a problem with time pressure, insufficient resources and unknown competition). The team had to research and develop compelling presentations based on the FLL International Assignment.
